Ratina Z, has properly been called “Mare of the Century.” Perhaps Ramiro Z best known daughter, she was once described as the best horse in the world after several Gold and Silver Olympic medals and winning World Cup performances. The super-mare Ratina Z, is the dream of the show jumping world, winning double Olympic gold medals (1992 and 1996) at the Barcelona Olympics, and the World Cup of 1993. She is the oldest daughter of Ramiro Z and Argentina Z, ridden by Piet Raymakers and Ludger Beerbaum, whom won World Cup Finals, the European Championships, the Grand Prix of Aachen, individual Olympic Silver, double Olympic Team Gold, Team Gold at the WEG, and twice team gold at the European championships. Argentina Z her dam is another Heureka daughter (by Alme) produced with Ramiro the following stallion sons: Rebel I Z, Rebel II Z, Rebel III Z and Rock Z all world famous and her full brothers.
Ratina Z was born in Belgium in Lanaken at Studbook Zangersheide from the breeder Leon Melchior. She was at first successful under Piet Raymakers (NL). 1991 won both the crew European champion title and by the olympic games in Barcelona (1992) the gold medal with the team as well as silver in the single. After which Ludger Beerbaum went on to many fine achievements and took her through to her retirement.
Ratina Z is sired by the legendary stallion Ramiro Z out of Argentina, a daughter of another famous stallion, Alme with whom it all began for Leon Melchior. Her sire Ramiro still ranks number 16 on the 2003 World Breeding Federation jumping stallion rankings. He is arguably the most influential jumping stallion ever. He has become world famous world wide and is duly called the Euro-stallion of his day. Preferent Ramiro decends from the famous male linage combination Rainmond - Ramzes x - Rittersporn xx.
Her dam Argentina Z is a girl of Alme and Heureka Z (Ganeffx Falerner). She was born in Stoeterij Zangersheide in 1977. She is the mother of the approved standards Rebel I, II &III Z (81,85,86), Renomee Z (89) by Ramiro ansi that Rock Z (88, by Rebel I Z). She also produced the mares Roxan Z (83), Renome Z (87) and many others.
